Journey Begins....

He broke the Samosa from the middle, the strong smell of cardamom and garam masala steamed out from the potato filling which is regarded as the heart of this particular snack. The vendor dropped a big spoon of tamarind chatni and presented me the leaf plate.

The smearing hot mouth-watering samosa with the vibrant chatni just escalated the hunger inside me. I broke a piece from the edge dipped it in the chatni and placed it in the mouth. Well I don’t know if there is anything like Amrit (the divine potion of gods) for which the Devtas (Gods) and Asuras (Demons) fought in the past. But for me this feel was no less than the heaven’s Amrit itself.

The crispy dough with the smashed sticky potato is one of the ultimate combos the human civilization has ever created. And to de-grease your buds from the oil of the samosa the Tamarind chatni kicks in with a unique combo of sweet and tangy flavor.

We find streets snacks is almost every alleys of India, and why not after all it’s something we are so dependent upon. 

 But the question arises ‘From where this Street Food culture originally originate ?’

Well it is said that the first street food was served on the streets of ancient Greece where the vendors used to fry the freshly caught fishes from the Tigris and serve them simply with light seasoning.  

Even street food was widely consumed by the poor urban residents of ancient Rome as they didn’t have ovens to cook their meals. In ancient China, where street foods were generally consumed by the poor, wealthy residents would send servants to buy street foods and bring meals back for their masters to eat in their homes. Across the globe street food has become an important part as the local population is struggling to keep in pace with their hectic life schedule.

However, one would be surprised to note, that despite concerns about contamination at street food vendors, the incidence of such is low with multiple studies showing rates comparable to restaurants.
